I apologize for the late posting of this post on Blog Action Day 2009. Blog Action Day was founded by Collis & Cyan Ta'eed in the summer of 2007. With the support of their team at Envato in Australia as well as numerous volunteers, they recruited over 20,000 bloggers to write about the issue of Environment on October 15, 2007 - making the first Blog Action Day an immediate and quite unexpected success. To learn more about Blog Action Day follow this link to their website.
This year the Topic is Climate Change. This is being done to limit the amount of greenhouse gas pollution. According to their website, "More than any other country, action taken by the United States to limit greenhouse gases and build a clean energy economy is needed to achieve a sustainable solution to our global climate crisis. This December world leaders will gather in Copenhagen to negotiate a global response to climate change. As a world leader in greenhouse gas pollution as well as clean energy technology, the United States needs to take bold action by implementing comprehensive clean energy policies to curb emissions. President Barack Obama has said that climate change is an urgent threat, and that he wants to restore America's responsible leadership in the world."
Today I ask you what you personally can do to affect the amount of greenhouse gas pollution. My ideas include:
- Ride a bicycle to work at least one day a week.
- Walk to the corner store for that loaf of bread.
- Turn off your lights and appliances when not in use.
- Think green in all you do concerning the environment.
- Recycle, Reuse, Reduce.
Those are five of my ideas, what do you do to help the environment and reduce greenhouse gases.
